how do i learn to float naturally in the pool withouth lessons?

I can never float in the pool and hence can’t swim. Not scared of the water but by muscles flex and get tense while I’m in the water.

The fact that you don’t float while in the water probably won’t be resolved by swimming lessons.I’ll guess that you have pretty low body fat.If this is the case then floating simply may not be an option for you.Fat weighs less than muscle does.Muscles are saturated with water also.Water doesn’t float in water.If you can’t swim then you should take lessons or at least go swimming with some people that you know who can swim.Floating is not a learned response.I swim very well but I’m lean and muscular.The moment I stop swimming I sink like a rock.If the water your swimming in is cold this alone could be causing you to tense up.
